After collaborating with the Saskatchewan Association for Northern Sport and Culture on a hip hop project in Beauval at the Saskatchewan Sport & Cultural Festival in 2009 and for the IMP Labs 55 Parallel Hip Hop Tour in 2010, I was also invited to collaborate again in 2011 on the B-ing Hip Hop Project. This event happened over two days and it provided an opportunity for northern youth with an interest in hip hop to gain exposure, knowledge and experience with beatmaking, DJing, graffiti, mobile media, and breakdancing. During the project, youth gained exposure, knowledge and experience in hip hop arts practices. Community leaders were mentored on how to develop programs to continue to use the knowledge and create more opportunities related to hip hop in their communities.
